The work that you do as we create your memoir will change you. The interview process will help you see at least parts of your life from a new perspective. You will find meaning in the events and encounters that shaped you. And by sharing your story with others, be it as a book or as a recording, you will not only pass on what you have learned but inspire your audience to reflect on their own life journey.
2. How long does the project take and what is my effort?
The process of creating your memoir will not require too much effort on your part, but it will feel rewarding. Your contribution is sitting down for the interviews with me and exploring the questions that I prepare for each session or that arise as you tell me your story.
For an audio recording of your life story, you and I spend 10 hours together in interviews. If you choose the package (recording plus mini-memoir), we meet for 10 hours of interviews for the audio recording and up to five hours additionally for the book.

4. What is a memoir?
A memoir is a story told in your own voice. To the readers of your memoir, it will feel like you’re sitting right there with them, talking to them. Memoirs are different from autobiographies. If you were to write your autobiography, you’d be telling the story of your entire life, from your birth to today. With your memoir, you can focus on just a slice of your life.
5. What should my memoir focus on?
Every life story is different, so there’s no one right answer to this question. But you and I will start talking about the focus of your memoir in our initial complimentary consultation.
Memoirs often concentrate on an exciting time or a crisis in a person’s life or on a single theme or thread that carries through across the years. Interesting trips, career pivots, coming-of-age adventures, and other turning points make for good memoir topics, as do ties and connections with individual people, groups or even landscapes. Passions and obsessions also supply rich material for a life story.
Your memoir could explore your relationship with your grandfather, your spouse or your mentor. It could focus on your professional life as an attorney, a physician or a scientist or on your volunteer support for any cause from the Audubon Society to the elementary school next door. Or it could delve into your passion for sailing or books, for flying kites or collecting fine old whiskeys.
One of my clients created her memoir around her experience as an immigrant from Iran. Another wanted to focus on his lifelong enthusiasm for a local baseball team. Another hired me to write about the lessons he learned growing up in Vienna in the 1930s and 1940s. Bottom line, anything goes.
6. Do you have examples of memoirs that you have ghostwritten?
My ghostwriting clients prefer to stay anonymous, and I respect that. But reading some of the dozens of published stories that I have written about people will give you a good impression of my work.
